Trothwood Forest

Our story

A piece of woods, shared with care.

Trothwood Forest began with two people who knew what stress looked like—and who always found their way back to themselves outside.

How we got here

Laura and I started our careers in mental-health settings, from psychiatric hospitals and group homes to county agencies. We saw how quickly work stress could become someone’s normal expression. We kept thinking about how important it is to have a real way to unplug—not as a luxury, but as part of staying well.

We had always loved camping, hiking, and simply being in the woods. Over the years, trips became a way to explore new places and find the local paths that do not show up on a polished itinerary. When we found this land near Hocking Hills, we recognized the possibility immediately.

After a few trips of our own, we decided to make room for other people to experience it. We kept development light, the number of sites low, and the fees approachable. That is still the idea: a quick, easy getaway with enough quiet to make a difference.

What we protect

A stay should leave the land better than it found you.

The quiet

Few sites, plenty of space, and no fireworks. The less noise we add, the more of the real forest you can hear.

The living things

Fruit trees, berries, trails, and wildlife are part of the experience. Enjoy what is ready to share; do not harm what is still growing.

The welcome

Bring your family, your dog, your motorcycle, or your small retreat group. There is more than one right way to be outside.

The next chapter

A small cabin may join the front of the property someday. For now, the woods stay the main event.
